Welcome to Nitta Town! I'd like to introduce some charms of Nitta to you. |
 PROFILE  Nitta Town is located in Gunma Prefecture southern part. The notable geographical feature of Nitta is its location. Nitta is located on the gentle alluvial fan, so there is much water springs. Therefor,people lived in from the prehistoric age and extremely Nitta prospered as the important position of the traffic in the Nara piriod (8ht century). Nitta is famous for Yoshisada who was conspicious in the Kamakura period and for a flower festival "Nitta Hanatopia". Nitta is devoted to providing refreshment to visiters who are tired in body and spirit. TODAY Nitta greeted the fortieth anniversary in September,1996. The cultural hall "Airis" and the gymnasium opened, and various events are held there. Nitta approaches a garden city in which you want to live and you can feel relaxed to live in. |
 KABURAYASAI --The Battle against Kamakura--   1333, Yoshisada received a order from the emperor, and rised an army to subdue the Kamakura Shogunate at Ikusina shrine. Yoshisada made a surprise attack which used an ebb tide, and destroyed the Kamakura Shogunate. After that,he continued a battle on the side of the emperor. However, he was defeted by the Ashikaga's soldiers soon and died. We praises the honor of the Yoshisada, so we hold a festival "Kaburayasai" on May 8th when Yoshisada raised an army at Ikusina shrine. Elementary schoolchildren who dress up as soldiers shoot arrows for Kamakura. |
 NITTA HANATOPIA --Flower Festival--    When the autumn comes, the central public area is buried with the helianthus and cosmos. This festival had been intrroduced on one of the major newspaper, and alot of turist from neighboring prefectur come Hanatopia. During the festival, a marathon race and a photographer's meeting are held. The last day is Folower Present Day, and you can freely get flowers. |
 SORIMACHI YAKUSHI --a Temple Yoshisada's House--   This is the temple of the Buddhism. There was a house of Yoshisada 650 years ago. In the precincts there are a rattan shelf and a pond. A legend about this pond has come down that Yoshisada made croaking frogs quiet by a yell. so we call the pond "Quiet Pond". At Sorimachi Yakushi, a fair is opened every year on January 4th and 50,000 visitors come here. Usually here is very quiet, but only fair's day, Sorimachi Yakushi is crowded with people. |
