Geoff, an drawing artist is our friend. Articles about him is here (sorry in Japanese) . We talked about it on radio and magazine interviews many times, which made our visit to Shinjuku very useful I thought. That's the best thing which could come out of our visit there, which was amazing. The first song we played in the park was 'drip drip drip' which is a song about landlords and bad housing, so we thought it was appropriate. Even though no one would understand any words, of course! |

Ironically the homeless camp is overshadowed by Government buildings - the difference between the haves and the have-nots could not be more starkly illustrated. We played a few acoustic numbers for homeless people gathering to eat as a volunteer-run soup kitchen exists there every Sunday. We managed to then bring up our visit to Shinjuku Park in all subsequent interviews. It was an attempt to raise awareness of the homeless problem in Tokyo and at least it felt we weren't just there to sell "product". |
