Dubai - Eight foreign challengers are likely to go to post for the penultimate leg of the inaugural Emirates World Series Racing Championship, the Group One Japan Cup over a mile and a half in Tokyo on November 28.

High-Rise, trained by Saeed bin Suroor, safely arrived in Tokyo and will be partnered in the big race by Frankie Dettori, who landed the Japan Cup in 1996 with Singspiel. Among the other European raiders is the Sir Mark Prescott-trained Alborada, dual winner of the Dubai Champion Stakes. The filly will have George Duffield in the saddle for the race.

Mark Johnston has sent his globe trotting stable star Fruits Of Love to contest the Cup. The four-year-old has already contested two Emirates World Series events finishing fifth in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes and then runner-up to Thornfield in the Canadian International.

Montjeu, the John Hammond-trained top rated three-year-old and winner of both the French and Irish Derbies and the Arc de Triomphe, arrived in Japan and will be partnered by Michael Kinane.

Andre Fabre has sent over the 1997 German Derby winner Borgia. Olivier Peslier, who has already started his winter contract riding in Japan, will be aboard the mare. Peter Sohiergen will be represented by Tiger Hill, winner of the Mercedes Benz Grosser Preis von Baden and the Grosser Dallmayr Preis Bayerisches Zuchtrennen.

Indigenous, trained by Ivan Allan in Hong Kong, will be making the trip to Japan. Winner of the Hong Kong Gold Cup, Indigenous travelled to Britain in July and finished sixth in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes, the second leg of the Emirates World Series.

Mash One, winner of the Oak Tree Championship Stakes and trained by Bobby Frankel, will be carrying the flag in Japan for America. David Flores will take the ride on the five-year-old. The home team look likely to have a strong defence with eight top quality runners including Special Week, the 1998 winner of the Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby), and Umeno Fiber, who has already won three stakes races this season.

Other Japanese runners include Osumi Bright, winner of the Kobe Shimbun Hai (Gr.2), Stay Gold, runner-up in both the Spring and Autumn Tenno Sho, and Rascal Suzuka, winner of the 1999 Hidaka Tokubetsu.
