考察
やはり、SCSIと違って、IDEのハードディスクはコマンドが終了するまでCPUが待たされるという性質により、
1コントローラに2台のハードディスクを接続しても速度の向上はあまりないようである。
しかし、FASTTRAKを2枚使用してハードディスクを分散するとそれなりの速度の向上がみられる。
気になるのはWinBench98のDisk/Read Transfer RateのEndの速度が向上どころか落ち込んでいるのが気になる。
また、Disk/Read CPU Utilization が速度の向上に連れて大きくなってゆくのは仕方のないところか。
今回は2.5Gと4.5Gのハードディスクだったので合計9782MB(2.5G×4?)となった。
できたら、近いうちにST34520A×4で試してみたいと思っている。その時には転送速度が50MBオーバーが出るのではないかと思われる。
注 : 起動ドライブは全て QUANTUM FIREBALL1080 です。
