The County of Nordland

has almost everything, or at the very least is runner-up in almost everything: Nordland is Norway's longest county and has more kilometres of road than any of the others. Here, the country is at its narrowest and the multitude of isles and skerries at its most abundant. The Arctic Circle is ours! We have Norway's second largest glacier, second longest coastline and second largest lake.

The Salten area abounds in islands and islets. Try hiring a boat in northern Salten and spending a few days among them. In the north we can't guarantee sunshine and tropical temperatures every day in the summer, but it is a once in a lifetime experience when nature unveils her full splendour.

lies on Kvala, one of the largest islands in Finnmark County with a bridge to the mainland. This provides a safe all year road connection.The development of modern transport has removed the importance of distance. Thus, it is no exaggeration to say that Hammerfest is one of the most central cities in modern Norway.The rest of the world is never far off, thanks to one of Norway's busiest feeder airports and daily calls by both
the northbound and southbound Coastal Express ships.

Finnmark

is on the same latitude as Siberia, Greenland and Alaska. For centuries people have travelled here to visit the North Cape, the northernmost outpost of the European mainland. Due to the Gulf Stream, Finnmark has the longest icefree coast in the Arctic region of the world. Summer temperatures reaching + 25°Cand winter temperatures around 0°C are quite common along the coast.

Finnmark is wilderness-summer- it is the land of the midnight sun and the magic kingdom of the Sami people. From may until August there is daylight all 24 hours of the day. For centuries people have traveled here to visit the North Cape, the northernmost outpost of the European mainland. is the worlds northermost city-like society (71 degrees north), and it is the administrative centre of Nordkapp (NorthCape) Municipality. Honningsv?g has about 3.000 inhabitants, and the economic life have traditionally been based on the fisheries on the coast and in the Barents Sea, the ship traffic, and the tourism. Honningsv?g is also well known for its very active cultural life.
