EXT - IN FRONT OF AN APARTMENT - DAYTIME
A car stops. A young woman, KATE, gets out of the car.
INT - A BATH ROOM - DAYTIME
Another young woman, LAURA, is taking shower. Only her feet are shown.
EXT - IN FRONT OF THE APARTMENT DAYTIME
KATE goes to a trunk of the car and picks up two large bags, and then closes the trunk and starts walking toward the apartment.
INT - THE BATH ROOM - DAYTIME
LAURA's hand turns the shower off.
INT - A LIVING ROOM - DAYTIME
KATE unlocks the door and opens the door, and comes into the middle part of the room while looking around. LAURA comes out of the bath room while drying her hair on a bath towel. KATE notices LAURA and is surprised that LAURA is naked. LAURA notices KATE and is surprised at her.
KATE
Wow, I'm sorry.
LAURA tries to hide her back by her hands first and wears the towel on her back quickly. KATE stares at LAURA's naked body with wonder.
KATE
(awkward smile)
...Hi, I'm Kate. I just got here.
KATE extends her hand to LAURA. LAURA stares at KATE with frightened face and does not respond.
KATE
Well...
LAURA backs to the bath room and slams the door. KATE stares at the door.
INT - THE LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
LAURA puts salad and pasta on a table. There are two more dishes on the table.
LAURA
I'm really sorry about before.
KATE
No. It's OK.
LAURA
I was so surprised and scared 'cause
I thought you wouldn't come today.
KATE
Sorry.
LAURA takes a bottle of wine and pours it into her glass.
LAURA
You want some?
KATE
Please.
LAURA pours the wine into KATE's glass. It spreads to KATE's sleeve.
LAURA
Oh, I'm sorry!
KATE
It's OK.
LAURA
I'm so sorry...
LAURA sits down. They look at each other. There is an awkward silence.
KATE
...Why did you hide your back?
LAURA
What?
KATE
You hid your back. People try to
cover up their body first.
LAURA
I...was panicked so...
KATE
(laugh)
So was I. I saw you're naked.
KATE starts eating while looking at LAURA. LAURA smiles at KATE awkwardly. KATE looks down and continues to eat. There is a silence for a while.
LAURA
Oh, there is going to be a party
next week.
KATE
Here?
LAURA
Yeah. In this apartment. It's a
welcome party.
KATE
Sounds good. Let's go together.
LAURA
Sure.
There is an awkward silent again.
SEQUENCE; Starts with V.O. between KATE talking to her friend on the phone.
1. Breakfast. KATE and LAURA are talking.
KATE
(V.O.)
She is so wired. Yeah...
2. Cleaning the room.
KATE
(V.O.)
She never shows her back...
No. Her skin.
3. Walking on the street. KATE and LAURA are talking.
KATE
(V.O.)
Yeah, we're doing OK...
4. Cleaning the room. LAURA picks up a
book on the floor while pulling up her
collar to hide her back. KATE notice it
and stares at LAURA with wonder.
INT - THE LIVING ROOM - DAYTIME
KATE is lying on the sofa and reading a magazine. LAURA comes into the room from outside.
LAURA
Kate.
KATE
Yeah?
LAURA
The party is gonna be formal.
KATE
So?
LAURA
I don't have a formal dress.
KATE
Oh, I have one for you. Just a minute.
KATE goes to her room and takes a formal dress, which uncovers the back, and give it to LAURA.
KATE
Try this.
LAURA looks at the dress and finds that the dress doesn't have a back part.
LAURA
...
KATE
Come on, try it.
KATE pushes LAURA to LAURA7s room.
INT - LAURA'S ROOM - DAYTIME
LAURA wears the dress and sees her back on the mirror. LAURA is intoxicated and looks at it.
INT - IN FRONT OF LAURA'S ROOM - DAYTIME
KATE stands in front of the door and knocks.
INT - LAURA'S ROOM - DAYTIME
LAURA pulls up her hairs and strokes her back with intoxicated face. Knock can be heard but LAURA doesn't care.
INT - IN FRONT OF THE ROOM - DAYTIME
KATE opens the door and goes inside.
INT - LAURA'S ROOM - DAYTIME
LAURA is very surprised by KATE's coming inside the room and covers her back by her hands first. And then she picks up her cloths and puts one of them on her shoulder to back.
KATE
How is it?
LAURA stares at KATE without response. She is a little shaking.
KATE
What's the matter?
LAURA
Get out of here.
KATE
Laura?
LAURA
Get our of here!
KATE goes out of the room with wonder. LAURA sits down on her heels and holds her face with suffering.
EXT - A PARK - DAYTIME
KATE and her friend, JENNY, are sitting on a bench and talking.
JENNY
Back?
KATE
Yeah. I think she has something
problem on her back. She bought
a new dress. She is so weird.
JENNY
That's strange. But why?
KATE
I don't know. That's what I wanna know.
JENNY
(laugh)
Why don't you take off her clothes?
KATE
No way. But I do wanna see her back.
Yes, I'll figure out a way.
INT - A PARTY AT A NEIGHBOR'S ROOM NIGHT
There are many people in the room. LAURA is talking with a man while holding a wine glass. KATE sneaks toward LAURA and bumps into her.
KATE
Oh, I'm sorry.
LAURA
Oh, Jesus.
KATE
Let's go back. You better get
rid of the stain immediately.
KATE and LAURA go out of the room.
INT - THE LIVING ROOM OF KATE AND LAURA'S ROOM - NIGHT
KATE and LAURA come into the room.
KATE
I'll get a benzene. Take off your dress.
LAURA nods and goes to her room. KATE sneaks to LAURA's room. KATE gets nervous.
INT - LAURA'S ROOM - NIGHT
LAURA pulls down the zipper of her dress on the back.
INT - IN FRONT OF LAURA'S ROOM - NIGHT
KATE puts her hands on the knob.
INT - LAURA'S ROOM - NIGHT
KATE opens the door and comes into the room. LAURA opening the zipper and showing her naked back turns around. They freeze and stare at each other.
BLACK OUT
LAURA screams.
INT - THE LIVING ROOM - MORNING
KATE carrying her two large bags comes out of her room and looks at LAURA's room. No sound can be heard. KATE sighs and goes out of the living room. After the sound that KATE left, LAURA wearing a turtle neck sweater comes out of her room while hiding her back by leaning the wall. She looks scared of something. LAURA goes to the entrance door while leaning the wall and the sound that locks the door can be heard.
EXT - IN FRONT OF THE APARTMENT - MORNING
KATE walks away form the apartment and gets on the car.
INT - THE LIVING ROOM - MORNING
LAURA goes to the window to shut off the curtain while hiding her back with the wall. She tries to shut the curtain and looks at out of the window.
EXT - OUTSIDE THE APARTMENT - MORNING
KATE starts the engine. The care starts moving.
INT - THE LIVING ROOM - MORNING
The car's leaving can be seen. LAURA shuts of the curtain.
