INT.YUKIE’S ROOM IN THE APARTMENT EVENING
Yukie sitting in the center of the room is drawing human profile on a sketchbook. The drawing looks like Tomoko. A door behind Yukie opens and Tomoko shows her face.
TOMOKO
What are you doing?
Yukie is surprised and hides the sketchbook.
TOMOKO
Oh, you’re drawing.
YUKIE
Yes.
TOMOKO
It’s time for dinner.
YUKIE
I know.
Tomoko smiles and closes the door. Yukie leaves the room.
INT. IN THE KITCHEN NIGHT
Tomoko is washing dashes and Yukie is staring at Tomoko’s profile while she is wiping the dashes beside Tomoko. Tomoko knows Yukie watching her and shows an awkward smile.
TOMOKO
What?
YUKIE
Nice ear ring.
TOMOKO
Thanks.
Tomoko and Yukie say nothing after that and only the dashes’ noise can be heard for a while. Suddenly, Yukie jumps at Tomoko, holds her and laughs.
TOMOKO
What!?
Yukie is holding with laugh as if a child is playing with her mother and then she leaves Tomoko and goes to her room. Tomoko doesn’t know what happened and stares at Yukie leaving the kitchen.
INT. IN A CAFETERIA AT THE UNIVERSITY DAYTIME
A lot of students occupies the tables and is eating their lunch. Tomoko, Kaori and Osamu Uehara who is her boyfriend and Kiyoshi Shimura who is Osamu’s friend are sitting beside the window and talking.
OSAMU
He is really shit. I don’t understand what he
wants us.
KAORU
He sucks, you know. He thinks he is a fuckin’
great artist. What a nice teacher we got!
OSAMU
He is a great artist only when he is painting a
naked woman.
TOMOKO
He is nice to me though.
KAORU
Oh, he loves you.
TOMOKO
Come on.
KAORU
Oh yeah, you have another one.
TOMOKO
Hey, stop it.
KAORU
Ups, it’s a slip of the tongue. Sorry.
OSAMU
Tell me about the story.
TOMOKO
It’s not your business.
KAORU
Yeah. It’s our secret.
Yukie comes into the cafeteria. Tomoko doesn’t know it and keeps talking.
YUKIE
TOMOKO!
Tomoko and other members turn to Yukie. Yukie runs toward the table and sits next to Tomoko.
TOMOKO
Yukie...How you doing?
YUKIE
Yes. The class is interesting and I can see
you like this.
Yukie leans Tomoko as if she is a daughter. Kaoru looks Yukie as if she is observing her.
TOMOKO
Well, let me introduce you to those guys.
Guys, This is Yukie. My roommate.
OSAMU
Hi, kiddo. This is Osamu.
KAORU
I’m Kaoru. Nice to see you.
KIYOSHI
Um...Nice to meet you. I’m Kiyoshi.
YUKIE
Nice to meet you.
Yukie smiles at them.
TOMOKO
Oh, Your name is Kiyoshi. I didn’t know
your name.
OSAMU
Oh yeah! I haven’t introduced him to you
guys.
KIYOSHI
It’s too late, man.
TOMOKO
Nice to see you, Kiyoshi.
Tomoko and Kiyoshi smile at each other. Yukie looks at Tomoko and Kiyoshi.
KAORU
Now we have a party here. Why don’t we go
out on this Sunday?
OSAMU
That’s sounds good. How about amusement
parks?
TOMOKO
That’s nice. I haven’t been there for a while.
KAORU
Let’s go to the amusement park at Tokyo bay.
OSAMU
How about you?
KIYOSHI
Oh, I‘ll go with you.
TOMOKO
You go with us?
YUKIE
If you go, I’ll go.
KAORU
Wow...
Tomoko stares at Kaoru.
OSAMU
OK. Let’s go there on this Sunday.
KAORU
Yap. Gee, the class will start. Let’s
Get outta here.
TOMOKO
Oh yeah, you’re right.
OSAMU
Don’t be panicked guys. We won’t die.
YUKIE
See you.
Yukie stands up.
OSAMU
See you on Sunday.
Yukie smiles and hurries to the entrance of the cafeteria. Rests of them stand up and start walking toward the entrance.
KAORU
Hey, Tomoko.
TOMOKO
Yeah?
KAORU
(whispering)
She must be a lesbian.
TOMOKO
What!?
Tomoko stops and looks at Kaoru seriously.
KAORU
Don’t be raped. See you!
Kaoru runs toward Osamu. Tomoko shows her surprise on her face and stares at Kaoru leaving the cafeteria with Osamu.
