INT. BACK STAIR OF THE 4-5TH FLOORS NIGHT
The customers of the party talking something go down the stair. Takeru and Christine runs up the stair and meet them.

CUSTOMER #1
Hey, Christine. What are you doing here?

Christine doesn't answer and takes Takeru's hand and opens the door to the 4th floor, and goes in.

CUSTOMER #1
What happened?

The customer #1 asks to the other customers. Bobby and his fellows runs up the stair and find Jeff and his fellows behind the customers.

BOBBY
Him!

Bobby and the fellows get their guns. Jeff and his fellows finds them and take out their guns, too. Bobby and his fellows shoot their guns first. The customers are panicked and scream. Jeff and the fellows hiding behind the stairway shoot back to Bobby. The customers scream and start running up the stair. Sam is shot and falls down. Jay sees the Sam and screams, and runs down the stair.

BOBBY
Damn it!

Bobby whispers and follows Jay. Jeff and his fellows runs up the stair while shooting their guns.

INT. 4TH FLOOR NIGHT
Takeru and Christine run from the back stair. Yoko sitting in front of Takeru's room turns to them and stands up. Takeru and Christine are surprised at Yoko and stop. Yoko looks at Takeru and Christine and looks down at their hands. Takeru and Christine hold their hands tight.

YOKO
(Japanese)
Ah, um...I'm sorry.

Yoko smiles awkwardly and walks away to the elevator hall with quick steps. Takeru and Christine follows her movement with their eyes and find that they are holding their hands. Takeru separates his hand from Christine's. They stare at each other. Yoko comes back.

YOKO
(Japanese)
I forgot that the elevator doesn't move. I'm sorry again.

Yoko shows her awkward smiles again and passes Takeru and Christine with scratching her head.

TAKERU
Yoko.

Yoko turns around while walking toward the back stair.

YOKO
See you.

Yoko waves her hand and runs away. Takeru looks at Yoko without words.

CHRISTINE
I...go back to my room.

Takeru turns to Christine.

TAKERU
OK...

Christine leaves from Takeru and stands in front of her room. Takeru tries to open the key of his room.

CHRISTINE
Come to my room?

TAKERU
What?

Takeru and Christine face each other again.

CHRISTINE
Will you come to my room?

TAKERU
Would you mind?

Christine smiles, opens the key and invites Takeru to her room. Takeru smiles back and follows her and goes into her room.

INT. THE LIVING ROOM OF CHRISTIINE'S ROOM NIGHT
Takeru is urged by Christine and walks into the living room. Christine follows Takeru and turns on the light. The living room is decorated neatly and the sense is good. A table is located besides the window and there are sofa and a table made with glass in the center of the living room.

TAKERU
What a beautiful place! Totally different than my room.

CHRISTINE
Drink something?

TAKERU
Yes, please.

Takeru goes to the table besides the window. There are Christine's report about "America and Japan"” and the some data about Japan on the table. Takeru sees the data and takes her paper. It is written "Cultural Imperialism and Japan"” on the top of the report. Takeru turns over the pages.

TAKERU
You've done the report.

CHRISTINE
Yeah. Well, it's just a draft.

Christine brings two cups filled with fruit punch juice both her hands.

TAKERU
Thank you.

CHRISTINE
Why don't you sit?

Takeru and Christine sit on the sofa together.

TAKERU
You've researched well.

CHRISTINE
It was difficult to find them. There are few certain ones.

TAKERU
I see. There are lot of materials with full of biases.

CHRISTINE
And...how do you think about my paper?

Christine leans out to Takeru.

TAKERU
I read it roughly so I can't say it in detail. Most of your opinion are correct I think but Americans didn't force their culture to Japanese I think.

CHRISTINE
Why?

TAKERU
Well, certainly the American occupation of Japan forced American way of think at that time. But now is different. For example, the boom of rap music in Japan is not forced by the U.S.

CHRISTINE
I don't understand. What do you mean?

TAKERU
Um...

Takeru can't reply.

CHRISTINE
Sorry. It is a difficult problem. Do you want some music?

TAKERU
Yeah, that's nice.

Christine stands up and sets CD to the stereo component.

CHRISTINE
It's EMINEM. Do you know them?

TAKERU
Yeah. That's cool.

Christine sits besides Takeru.

CHRISTINE
EMINEM is famous in Japan?

TAKERU
Yes. Most young people knows them.

CHRISTINE
That's strange. Japanese knows our stars but we don't know about Japanese stars.

TAKERU
...you're right.

CHRISTINE
Not only stars. We don't know anything about Japan. We don't even try to know.

TAKERU
But I don't recommend too much interest. It is shameful that you loose your interest about your own culture I think.

CHRISTINE
Why?

TAKERU
Japanese are not interested in Japan that much. That means we are not proud of our own country. I don't know why but we feel ashamed of patriotic thinking.

CHRISTINE
Aha?

TAKERU
We don't like we are Japanese ourselves even if it is influenced by American cultural imperialism. We are thinking that America is better than Japan for all and we want to be Americans.

CHRISTINE
How about you?

TAKERU
Here I am because I wanted to be an American maybe. So, I've felt inferiority complex that I can't speak English that much. You're not an American if you can't speak English. But I was wrong. I can't become an American. I can't be a person who has a different nationality.

CHRISTINE
Right. You don't have to.

TAKERU
But still I'm not proud of my nationality.

CHRISTINE
It is our fault?

TAKERU
I don't know. It may be just my fault.

CHRISTINE
I don't understand really.

Christine shows that she is tired on her face. Takeru finds it.

TAKERU
I'm sorry. The story went complex. But your report is well written I think.

CHRISTINE
Thanks.

Takeru and Christine run out their conversation and drink the fruit punch juice. Christine sighs.

CHRISTINE
But, America is not a good country. The drugs spread over the country and is full of the crime with guns.

Christine is in a serious mood.

TAKERU
You're right.

CHRISTINE
Everybody is living while clinging to the drugs. Rob is, too. I want him to stop.

TAKERU
He doesn't listen your words?

CHRISTINE
He turns a deaf ear to my words about the drug.

TAKERU
Damn it. If I were him, I would stop. I don't wanna hurt someone who I love.

CHRISTINE
You are serious person and it is very important thing.

TAKERU
You think so?

CHRISTINE
Yeah. I think you're nice.

TAKERU
...really?

Takeru stares at Christine. Christine looks at Takeru with attractive eyes.

TAKERU
Christine...

Takeru touches Christine's face. Christine is under tension and looks at his hand touching her cheek, and looks at Takeru. Takeru kisses Christine. They separates once and kiss hard again and hold each other tight.

To be continued...
