'Ukai' or 'cormorant fishing' at Kintaikyo, Iwakuni will be canceled this season due to an allision on July 30, 2014.

On October 19, 2014, Sanin Matsushima Yuran restored services of excursion boats in Koyama Ike (Lake Koyama) near Tottori City for the first time in three decades.

On July 20, 2015, Aquanet Hiroshima's Kaio (136gt) entered service on the Hiroshima Marina-Miyajima route. The Kaio's ex-owner is Sasebo Pearl Sea.

On October 17, 2017, Setouchi Cruise's "Guntu" (3,200gt) is due to go into service.

Okayama Kyobashi Cruise is planning to operate a ferry on the Ushimado-Imushima-Kyobashi route during the Setouchi Triennlae 2019.

On July 5, 2020, Setouchi Cruise resumed the operation of the "Guntu" cruise ship, which had been out of service due to the novel coronovirus pandemic since March 1, 2020.

Joyport Minamiawaji launched the Kanrin Maru (390gt, LOA: 59.34m, Beam: 10.0m, Pass: 500) on March 13, 2021. She was built at Hongawara Ship Yard.
