Information

In May 2014, Naikai Zosen Corporation delivered the Shinka Maru (16,750gt, RORO) to Kuribayashi Maritime/Japan Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Agency (JRTT). She plies between Tokyo and Tomakomai. The Ariake Maru No.1 (3,692gt, RORO) was sold in April 2014.

Kinkai Yusen Kaisha's RORO vessel, Hidaka (11,185gt), which took water at Kanda Shipbuilding Kawajiri Works on October 9, 2014, was completed on January 28, 2015, and entered service on the Tsuruga-Tomakomai route. The Tokachi (9,858gt, RORO) was replaced.

Kinkai Yusen Kaisha's RORO vessel, Hokuto (11,500gt), which took water at Kanda Shipbuilding Kawajiri Works on June 3, 2015, entered service on the Tsuruga-Tomakomai route on September 30, 2015. The Hokuto (8,608gt, RORO) was replaced.

Kinkai Yusen Kaisha (KYK Line) will build two RORO vessels. The two ROROs are due to enter service in January 2018 & March 2018 respectively. The Marimo and the Mashu will be replaced.

Nippon Express/Nippon Shipping will replace RORO container vessels, Himawari 1 (7,323gt、2001) which runs on the Tokyo-Tomakomai-Kushiro-Tokyo route, and the Himawari 2 (7,323gt、2001) which runs on the Tokyo-Tomakomai-Kushiro-Tokyo-Osaka-Tokyo route, with new RORO vessels, Himawari 8 and Himawari 9. The Himawari 8 and the Himawari 9 will enter service in September and December 2017 respectively.

Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen's Fuou Maru will enter service on the Tamakomai-Hitachinaka route in October 2016.

On March 30, 2017, Nippon Express' RORO vessel, Himawari 8 took the water at MHI Shimonoseki shipyard. She is set to enter service on the Kushiro-Tomakomai-Tokyo route in September 2017. The Himawari 1 will be replaced.

On May 26, 2017, Kuribayashi Shosen's RORO vessel, Kamikita Maru (12,430gt) was completed at Shin Kurushima Dockyard Co., Ltd., Onishi Shipyard. She will enter service on the Kushiro-Tomakomai-Sendai-Tokyo-Osaka route in June 2017.

On June 24, 2017, Nippon Express' RORO vessel, Himawari 9 took the water at MHI Shimonoseki shipyard.

On August 23, 2017, Kinkai Yusen Kaisha's RORO vessel, Marimo (about 11,200gt) took the water at MHI Shimonoseki shipyard.

On September 4, 2017, the Himawari 8 (10,620gt), a RORO vessel of Nippon Shipping Co.,Ltd., a subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd., entered service on the Kushiro-Tomakomai-Tokyo route. The Himawari 1 (7,323gt, 2001) was replaced.

On October 24, 2017, Kinkai Yusen Kaisha's RORO vessel, Mashu (about 11,200gt) took the water at MHI Shimonoseki shipyard. She is set to enter service on the Tomakomai-Hitachinaka route in March 2018.

On October 30, 2017, Kuribayashi Steamship decided to build a replacement vessel for the Shinoh Maru (11,790gt, 1999), a RORO vessel which plies between Kushiro and Tokyo. The new vessel is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2019.

On January 15, 2018, Kinkai Yusen Kaisha's RORO vessel, Marimo (about 11,200gt) entered service on the Tomakomai-Hitachinaka route.

On January 31, 2018, Fujitrans Corporation's RORO vessel, "Fujiki" (about 15,900gt) took the water at Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Shimonoseki shipyard (ex-MHI Shimonoseki shipyard). The "Fujiki" (III) is set to enter service on the Nagoya-Sendai-Tomakomai route in June 2018.

Kuribayashi Steamship will change the Tomakomai-Tokyo route on May 26, 2018, and the Shinmei Maru, its RORO vessel will begin to call at Shimizu and Osaka, too.

On July 18, 2019, the Shin Ju Maru (14,300gt), a RORO vessel took the water at Naikai Zosen Setoda Shipyard.

On November 25, 2019, the Sinoh Maru, a roro vessel (13,650gt) took the water at Naikai Zosaen Innoshima Plant (shipyard). She is expected to delivered to Kuribayashi Steamship (Kuribayashi Shosen) in March, 2020.

Kuribayashi Steamship's new ro-ro vessel, Shinei Maru (14,054gt) arrived at Tomakomai, on January 16, 2021.

Wakou Senpaku will carry cargos, including Japanese persimmons and rice from Naoetsu to Hamochi (Sado island) with Ferry Aguni (462gt) one service a day from October 2021.
