Probably the best Malay restaurant in town with a grand setting. Their buffet has a large selection (e.g.
satay, durian bubur, roti canai, rendang, rojak, etc).

As majority of their patrons are foreigners, their food is tuned down, not spicy or hot for foreigners. They have a 45 minutes cultural dance which start at 2045 hours, is idea for entertaining foreign guests.

Malaysian music

is still in a state of evolution.
It is the hypothesis of the present writer that a
truly Malaysian music, one in which various
elements of the various local cultures are
merged and blended into a uniquely
distinguishable musical style, has only just
become attainable with the current peace,
inter-racial harmony and prosperity
experienced in the country. This is reflected in
the relatively recent emergence of various
Malaysian contemporary composers, be they
from the classical or popular music traditions,
who consciously strive to achieve this blending
of cultures in their work.

サ−ビスよく、踊り子が舞台を下りて客席まで・・・・・
踊り子の数も多く、２０-３０人ぐらい・・・・
Seri Melayu レストランの客席は大きく、２００人は入ろうかと言うスペ−ス・・・・・・・・
最初、まばらだった客席も見る見る外国人で詰まっていった．
日本から、ホテルを通して予約をしていたもので、

CLASSICAL MUSIC IN MALAYSIA
MALAY GAMELAN

The Malay Gamelan is distinctly different from the Javanese or Balinese Gamelan, not so much in the instruments used but rather in the music played. The gamelan was brought over to Pahang
in Malaysia in 1811 from Riau-Lingga (Zakaria Ariffin 1990) and spread to Terengganu shortly afterwards through a royal marriage. From the over 60 songs initially brought over, about half
died with the original players and of the 30 remaining only about 12 are regularly performed today. Malay gamelan music is very simplistic i that nearly all instruments play the melody, unlike
the intricately locked parts of the Javanese gamelan.
