The Calgary Tower

is currently owned and operated by Oxford Properties Group. Officially opened on June 30th, 1968, the "Tower " has become the City of Calgary's most famous and identifiable physical landmark. Though now 30 years old, the Calgary Tower is still the 3rd tallest structure in the city and a must see on any tourist's itinerary. Throughout the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, an Olympic Torch burned non-stop at the top of the Tower. When the "Torch" is lit on special occasions it brings back fond memories as well as a certain pride in all Calgarians.

Fort Calgary Historic Park.

In 1875, amid a sea of scarlet jackets and thundering hooves, 'F' Troop of the North West Mounted Police crossed the Bow River to build Fort Calgary. Sent from Ottawa, the troop was to impose law and order and stop the whiskey trade which was devastating First Nations communities. The Mounties' occupation of the outpost ended in 1914, but their legacy lives on as the City of
Calgary continues to rise behind the fort - where it all began.
