次に博物館で有名な、バイキング博物館を見学することにした。
この博物館はこの1角からは少し離れたところにあり、オスロ湾内をぐるりと回って対岸のところに位置していた。
車で地図を頼りに車を運転していった。

ヴァイキング船オ−セバルグ号−女王オ−サの棺として−
見事な船が展示されている．このほか、２隻のヴァイキング船も展示されている．
ちょうど、韓国からの、団体ツワ−に会う．５０人ほどが、観光バスにのつてきていた．
A splendid ship is exhibited. Besides this, two viking ships are exhibited.
We meets South Korean's group sightseeing toure just. About 50 South Koreans
took the charabanc.

何度か道路地図を見ながら街行く人に場所を聞きながらたどり着くことができた。
緑豊かな丘陵地にバイキング博物館が建てられていた。
われわれが到着したときにはちょうど韓国人らしい団体バスの1行がこの博物館の見学を終わり、ちょうど団体観光バスが出発するときであった。
われわれ2人がレンタカーでこの博物館の駐車場に乗りつけたのが大変珍しかったらしくバスの窓から盛んにわれわれの方を不思議そうに見ていたのが印象的であった。 |

この船に乗って海にバイキングが繰り出していったことを想像しながら感慨無量であった。
このバイキング魂がいまだにノルウェーの国民性に引き継がれているのがよく理解できた。
いわゆる新しいことに積極的にチャレンジをしていくという進取の気性である。
このような国民性が現在の豊かなノルウェーの福祉国家を作り上げた源であろう。

写真や、映像でよく見るバイキングを博物館は、オスロを代表する博物館のひとつである。
それは、やはり発掘調査により実物のバイキング船がここに再現されているからであろう。
実際に博物館の中に入って昔使用されていたバイキング船を見てみると予想以上に大きな船であった。

博物館はこのバイキング船がしたからも上からも見学できるように配慮されていた。
バイキング船は1層だけではなく他にも展示されていた。
(Viking Ship Museum)
The three Viking burial vessels at this museum, the
Gokstad, Tune, and Oseberg, date from AD 800?900 and
were found near the Oslo Fjord in the 19th century. The
Oseburg, a 20-meter-long (64-foot-long) ship with a
dragon-shaped keel, contained royal remains. Also on
display is a fine collection of objects included on the
boats to ensure a happy afterlife for the deceased.
These range from the sublime to the mundane, and
include beautiful ceremonial sleighs, household utensils,
and tools. |
博物館のミュ−ジアム・ショツプも、充実していた．
ヴァイキング関連のお土産を買い求める．
ミュージアムショップにはバイキング博物館になじみのあるグッズ類が展示即売されていた。
非常に興味ある品物が数多く展示されていたが、残念なことにいささか値段が高かった。

ミュージアムショップは博物館の入り口を入ってすぐに左側の位置にあった。写真に見られるように、ガラスショウーウインドウにバイキングのグッズ類が展示即売されていた。
その他にも写真とか本とか豊富にそろえられていた。

ヘンリク・ソレ−センの”働き楽しむ人々”ガ、１階の大広間に、圧倒する迫力で、せまつてくる．
このほか、ムンクやペ−ル・グロ−グの絵画もある．
また、オスロと交流のある世界各都市からの、贈り物も展示されていた．中国製の陶磁器のすばらしい逸物があつた．

中に見学に来ている人は、われわれを除いて数人の人がやはり観光客として見学していたぐらいであった。

またこのスペースの空間はノーベル平和賞のセレモニーが行われる空間でもあった。

階段を上って2階のフロアに上っていくと、そこにはオスロ市と姉妹都市の関係にある世界各都市からのいろいろな記念品が飾られていた。
特に印象的であったのは中国からの記念品で、これは陶磁器のかなり精巧なものが展示されていた。

この絵画のテーマは働く人々というテーマである。
いろいろな職業で働いている人々の状態を絵画にして展示しているのである。
これが玄関ホールの広場から始まって2階フロアの廊下に至るまで、描かれている。

オスロ市庁舎-rådhuset-
次に訪問したのは、ノルウェーのオスロ市庁舎の建物である。
これは街の中心市街地にあり、この建物でノーベル賞平和賞のセレモニーが行われることで有名である。
有名なノルウェー出身の画家によって、たくさんの絵が描かれているということでこの絵画を見物しに行くことにした。
Radhuset (City Hall) Although the Radhus may not be an architectural gem,
take time to explore the interior. The building itself, designed by Arnstein
Arneberg and Magnus
Paulsson, was almost 20 years in the making. Visitors entering through
the main door on the opposite side of the building from the harbor will
see splendid murals by some of Norway's most esteemed artists. These murals,
begun in the 1930s but not completed until the late 1950s because of
WWII, depict life in Oslo at the time and include
illustrations of the Nazi occupation.

この市庁舎の建物を回りを取り囲むように民間の店先が軒を連ねているのである。
その中心部にこの市庁舎の建物がそびえていた。
下は石畳で整備されていた。

A big painting with power was exhibited in the banquet hall of the first
floor in the Oslo City public office building.

われわれが訪問したときにはあまり観光客の数は多くなかった。
回りを取り囲んでいる店先にもあまり人の数は認められなかった。
正面玄関からこの建物の中に入って行くと、自由に中に入れるようになっており、1番先に目についたのは壁面いっぱいに描かれているヘンリク・ソレ−センの絵画であった。
